Training program on Europe and European values has been developed as part of the Erasmus Euridentity Certificate project, led by Professor Quentin Michel and his colleagues at the University of the Greater Region.

The program is structured on two levels:

- on the one hand, a specific online training course,

- on the other, a catalog of open courses in the various universities of the Greater Region

The EurIdentity Certificate qualification aims to give all students in the Greater Region, whatever their academic discipline, a fundamental knowledge of Europe and intercultural skills. Symbolically, the certificate is obtained beyond borders, in the heart of Europe, through mobility in at least two of the seven universities of the Greater Region.

STRUCTURE OF THE EURIDENTITY CERTIFICATE

The certificate consists of two modules:

  • Basic Module(6 ECTScredits )
  • Advanced Level(18 ECTScredits )

The Basic Module with a selection of European topics via virtual courses and optional seminars. Virtual courses can be taken at any time via the OpenOlat platform.

The Advanced Level designed to deepen knowledge of Europe. It enables students to obtain the EurIdentity Certificate. In this module, European knowledge is refined and deepened. At the same time, cross-border mobility between the UniGR network's partner universities abroad enables students to enhance their intercultural skills.

EURIDENTITY BASIC MODULE: FOUNDATIONS OF EUROPE

The "EurIdentity Basic Module: Foundations of Europe" provides basic information on European issues via 12 topic units which students can consult at any time via the OpenOlat platform. The 12 topic units are divided into 2 parts: the first part is called "European values and identities" and the second part "European challenges and actors".

With a total duration of 40 hours, the 12 Topic Units cover European culture, European law, European history, the EU and climate change, the European labor market and European politics.

The special feature of this format lies in the choice of lecturers: the 12 Topic Units are presented in English by different experts from the 7 universities of the Greater Region.

There are 2 examination sessions. After completing the sessions and passing the exams, students will be awarded a Euridentity basic level certificate, corresponding to 6ECTS.

On a voluntary basis, several seminars will be organized during the 2023-2024 academic year.

The 12 topic units can be accessed in the first and second semesters. Two examination sessions and two make-up sessions will then be organized during the academic year. The examination will be in English, with multiple-choice and assessment Pass/Fail. The exam will take place in person or online. Students will be able to consult a dictionary of their mother tongue if necessary.

EURIDENTITY ADVANCED LEVEL

The Advanced Level will also offer virtual and physical mobility. Students will attend both streaming courses and a fixed number of lectures, at least one of which must take place at one of the partner universities: TU Kaiserslautern, Université de Lorraine, Université du Luxembourg, Universität des Saarlandes, Universität Trier, Université de Liège, htw saar.

Students completing the advanced level gain a deeper insight into European topics and the opportunity to acquire the official EurIdentity certificate. It corresponds to 18ECTS. The advanced module not only enables students to test and deepen their understanding of Europe through seminars, but also to enhance their intercultural skills thanks to cross-border mobility and the opportunity to study at a partner university in the UniGR network.
