Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2024 : ULiège between 301st and 350th position
The 20th edition of the Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THE WUR) was published on 27 September 2023. The ranking lists just over 1,900 institutions worldwide and was based on data for 2020-2021 and the financial year ending in December 2021.
ULiège is ranked between 301st and 350th place, improving its position compared with the previous ranking (between 351st and 400th place). This improvement is mainly due to the significant increase in the scores obtained for three indicators relating to the 'Teaching' category, a halving of the weighting of the 'Citation impact' indicator and the introduction of new indicators that are more favourable to ULiège.
At Belgian level, ULiège is ranked 7th.
While the University of Liège pays close attention to how it is perceived internationally, it remains cautious about rankings that favour certain types of institution and whose indicators reflect very imperfectly the specificity, diversity and quality of its research and teaching.
ULiège has therefore committed itself to favouring a more qualitative evaluation of research by signing the San Francisco Declaration (DORA) in 2022 and the European Agreement for the Reform of Research (CoARA) in 2023.
At the same time, it is rolling out its teaching quality action plan to develop its courses and the careers of its students. Implementing these commitments is an institutional priority, which is reflected in the development of ULiège's research practices and course programmes.
