Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)

Blended Intensive programs (BIPs) are a new mobility opportunity offered under the Erasmus+ program. These programs are organized by higher education institutions around a variety of themes, often interdisciplinary in nature.

Each program includes:

• a physical mobility period of 5 to 30 days;
• a virtual component before, during, or after the in-person mobility;
• the acquisition of at least 3 ECTS credits.

Objectives

BIPs allow you to:

• participate in a short, intensive, and innovative program;
• develop cross-disciplinary skills in an intercultural setting;
• collaborate with students and faculty from European partner universities.

Eligibility Requirements

• Be enrolled at the University of Liège.
• Participate in a BIP organized by a partner university of ULiège .

Erasmus Funding

Participants may be eligible for an Erasmus grant, consisting of:

• a daily allowance for the duration of the physical mobility
  and

• a one-time travel allowance to cover travel expenses.

Funding Details

Daily allowance for the duration of the physical mobility (generally 5 days)

The amounts for the contribution to living expenses are set as follows:

The contribution toward living expenses may also cover two days of travel (round trip).

* Students with fewer opportunities (AMO) receive additional funding of €100 for a physical activity lasting 5 to 14 days and €150 for an activity lasting 15 to 30 days.

The profiles of students with fewer opportunities are as follows:

• students receiving financial aid, i.e., those who received a grant from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in the year prior to their departure;
• students with modest incomes, i.e., those who received the intermediate rate from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in the year prior to their departure;
• students with special needs, i.e., those whose personal physical, mental, or medical conditions are such that their participation in the mobility program would not be possible without additional financial support (confirmation required via the ULiège ASH service);
• students receiving social integration income ( confirmation required via the CPAS);
• a student with the status ofa family caregiver ( confirmation required via a certificate from the health insurance provider);
• students with an employment contract (excluding school breaks) and who therefore experience a loss of income during the mobility period. The student must have worked more than 650 hours per calendar year (confirmation required via the "Student@Work" certificate OR a statement of hours worked via the social security portal OR a signed and stamped certificate from your employer, to which you must attach a copy of your employment contract specifying the number of working hours per week);
• "Single parent" students traveling with a child who is not yet of compulsory school age (confirmation required via proof of household composition).

One-time travel allowance to cover travel expenses

The travel allowance covers the trip to the place of stay. The distance is calculated using the European Commission’s distance calculator.

Please note that only the outbound journey is taken into account when calculating the distance and, consequently, the rate based on the list below.

*** To qualify for the "green travel" package, students must travel to their destination by train and/or bus and/or bicycle (both the outbound AND return trips). Proof of travel must be submitted to the International Relations Office.

1. Identify a BIP organized by a partner university of ULiège.

2. Submit your scholarship application by contacting Dominique Frère, no later than one month (4 weeks) before the start of the mobility period (in-person and virtual).
