I am a PhD student

This procedure applies to doctoral students who are registered at another university than ULiège, and who come for an internship or a research stay of 12 months maximum at ULiège.

You will benefit from a registration as a doctoral student at ULiège. This step is mandatory.

In parallel, it is essential to establish an internship agreement between your home institution, ULiège and yourself.

• Either you use the model of your home university, then it will have to be sent to Phuong Ngo ;
• Or you use the model proposed by our university, which can be directly signed by your supervisor at ULiège.

In no case should two different agreements be signed for the same stay.

If your stay is longer than 12 months, you will have to register regularly as a doctoral student at ULiège in order to obtain a degree in the framework of a cotutelle.

Joint PhD is an agreement that allows the joint organization and supervision of a doctoral thesis by two universities in order to obtain a double or joint degree.

You must be registered at both your home university and at ULiège and pay the registration fees, unless you have a status that exempts you from this requirement.

At the same time, the different aspects of your Joint PhD will be formalized by signing an agreement. 

These two steps are mandatory.  

PROCEDURE AND AGREEMENT MODEL

Two distinct procedures must be completed in parallel in order to register for a Joint PhD:

1. Registration at ULiège
2. The formalization of the cotutelle agreement
