Université de la Grande Région is an innovative university consortium that brings together the universities of Kaiserslautern-Landau (D), Lorraine (F), Luxembourg (LU), Saarland (D), Trier (D), htw saar (D) and Liège (B), as associate partners. located in the border area of the Grande Région (Germany - Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland; Belgium - Wallonia, French and German-speaking Communities of Belgium; France - Grand-Est Region (Lorraine); Grand Duchy of Luxembourg).
This cooperation, which began in 2008 as part of a European project between the seven higher education and research establishments of the Grande Région, has been made permanent. Since 2015, the group has had its own legal structure, enabling it to carry out projects on behalf of its members, and to ensure joint coordination of the cooperation.
UniGR's centers of expertise
The UniGR is developing its international profile by focusing on targeted areas to meet certain territorial and societal challenges facing the Greater Region. This specialization takes the form of "Interdisciplinary Centers of Expertise".
UniGR-CIRKLA
A center of expertise set up by UniGR, CIRKLA aims to develop a comprehensive portfolio of training, research and innovation projects in the circular economy sector.
UniGR-Center for Border Studies
The first interdisciplinary center of expertise within the UniGR network to conduct research on borders in Europe and beyond.

UniGR projects
Erasmus+ Leg-UniGR: Blueprint for a legal entity for cross-border university alliances
The Leg-UniGR project was selected by the European Commission as part of a call for pilot projects under the "European Universities" initiative. Its aim: to test the feasibility of a new legal status for cross-border university networks.

Erasmus+ Euridentity Certificate
The "EurIdentity" Certificate enables students from the Greater Region to acquire fundamental skills about Europe and European values.
Studying at universities in the Greater Region
Students from universities in the Greater Region can take courses or even a teaching unit at partner universities without having to pay tuition fees at the host university. They have access to the range of courses on offer, and can take examinations in the course(s) they have taken if a "Learning Agreement" has been drawn up.

Support for your Grande Région projects :
- Mobility Fund
Students and staff wishing to travel to the Grande Région as part of an event (at least 3 UniGR partners) can benefit from one-off support for their mobility.
- Seed funding
Scientists from the University of Liège wishing to start collaborations with partners from universities in the Greater Region can benefit from the UniGR Seed Fund.
