Central Africa Platform

An institutional project in DR Congo

The Université de Liège's desire to open up to the world is expressed by the creation of an institutional project: the Central Africa Platform (PAC). This original, permanent structure is based in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is responsible for identifying and studying issues that are characteristic of local areas, and whose impact is extended to cross-border areas in Central Africa.

Its local presence at ERAIFT and the commitment of a permanent staff member, enables the Platform to position ULiège as a reliable partner with a long-term vision of North-South / South-North collaborations. Supported by the PACODEL , the Central Africa Platform works to identify local needs and potential partnerships, as well as formulating and supporting research, training and expert missions around common themes.

The choice of Central Africa

The links between ULiège and Kinshasa are long-standing, strong and enduring. In addition to the historical aspects, the university has been present in this region for several years, notably through its institutional support and its numerous research, teaching and community service projects. For these reasons, ULiège has decided to establish a permanent presence in the region. What's more, this central location enables us to reach out to higher education institutions in the Central African region, such as DR Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Chad and Cameroon.
